Almost pure swards of Eriophorum scheuchzeri fringing small, cold, acidic lakes above the tree limit in the Alps and the Eastern Carpathians. They are related to both the boreal communities of unit D2.212 and to the arctoboreal marsh-fens of unit D4.261.
