Species-rich communities mostly of southeastern England, characterized by the abundance of Viburnum lantana, Legustrum vulgarae, Cornus sanguinea, Tamus communus and Clematis vitalba, the frequency of Taxus baccata saplings and Juniperus communis. There is often a field layer with Bromus erectus, Brachypodium pinnatum and other dry grassland species in less dense stands. Some orchid species rare to the British Isles, such as Himantoglossum hircinum, Orchis militaris, O. purpurea, O. simia, are strongly associated with this habitat.
