Description
Lakes and pools with mostly dirty grey to blue-green, more or less turbid, waters, particularly rich in nutrients (nitrogen and phosphorus) and dissolved bases (pH usually > 7). Moderately eutrophic waters can support dense beds of macrophytes, but these disappear when pollution causes nutrient levels to rise further.

Description
Formations of water bodies constituted by submerged, rooted, perennial phanerogams with often emerging flower spikes, in particular entirely immersed pondweeds of genus Potamogeton. Alliances Potamion lucentis and Potamion pusilli. Other frequent species are Myriophyllum spicatum, Myriophyllum verticillatum, Najas marina and Najas minor.
