Description
Lakes and pools with mostly dirty grey to blue-green, more or less turbid, waters, particularly rich in nutrients (nitrogen and phosphorus) and dissolved bases (pH usually > 7). Moderately eutrophic waters can support dense beds of macrophytes, but these disappear when pollution causes nutrient levels to rise further.

Description
Formations of waters dominated by rooted aquatic plants with floating leaves. The most typical species are Nuphar lutea, Nymphaea alba, Nymphoides peltata, Trapa natans and Persicaria amphibia, of the alliance Nymphaeion albae. A second layer is often formed by Ceratophyllum demersum, Myriophyllum spicatum and Lemna trisulca.
