Successional and plagioclimax scrub, mostly deciduous, of Atlantic, sub-Atlantic or subcontinental affinities, characteristic of the nemoral zone, but also colonizing cool, moist or disturbed stations of the mediterranean evergreen forest zone. Included are thickets of Buxus sempervirens, Corylus avellana, Cytisus scoparius, Juniperus communis, Prunus spinosa, Rubus fruticosus and Ulex europaeus.

Deciduous thickets of Western Europe and western and northern Central Europe formed by Rubus spp., Frangula alnus, Sorbus aucuparia, Corylus avellana, Lonicera periclymenum, Cytisus scoparius, characteristic of forest edges, hedges and woodland recolonisation developed on soils relatively poor in nutrients, usually acid, mostly under climates with strong Atlantic influence. Substitution communities of the Quercion robori-petraeae (c.f. units G1.81-G1.86, parts of G1.87 and of G4.71).
